Fundraising Opportunities

When was there ever a school that didn’t need extra funds?  Westgate Christian Academy is no different!

Each school year, parents with children in elementary and middle school will need to meet a mandatory $450 fundraising commitment. (Click Family Fundraising Agreement to see a copy of this agreement that accompanies your registration form and fee at the time of registration.)

The following is a list of ways all Westgate families can help the school raise money & fulfill their Family Fundraising Agreement. We encourage every family to get involved with as many of these opportunities as possible. Monies earned through all of these methods support the operation of the school and improvement of it’s programs.

Westgate Waiver$
This program warrants a page of its own here on our website. Parents can purchase gift certificates for restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, and just about every other vendor you might frequent. You pay $100 for a $100 gift certificate, but then that company returns a percentage back to our school. If your purchase was $100 and their discount was 4%, two percent is credited to the school, and two percent would be credited to your family. This is a great fund raiser and it doesn’t cost you anything!

Businesses can use their credit cards to purchase gift certificates and designate Westgate as the recipient of any discounts. You can find out more about this program by visiting this website: www.rewardsandmoregiftcards.com

Green and Gold Gala
This will take place in early March in a church or banquet center in the immediate area.  We’re encouraging parents to help us gain corporate sponsors for the event as well as gather items for auctioning.  A committee of parents and staff members will organize this event, and we would love to have your help. We hope to make this the most fun and the most profitable fundraiser of the year.  Contact Mrs. Barratt if you are willing to contribute to the Gala’s success.

Butter Braids
We’ll sell BUTTER BRAIDS in October and they will be delivered in November – in time to serve to those out of town guests who come for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Boxtops 4 Education
Each time your family uses a General Mills product, look for the BOXTOPS 4 EDUCATION label on the package. Cut that label off and save it! Ask friends and family to save them as well. This program brought in over $2000 last year! Send in the Boxtops to your child’s teacher as soon as you get three or four. We’ll have a definite deadline in March by which to have them all turned in, but it is easier for our coordinator if they come in regularly rather than have so many at the last minute. For more information, check this website: www.boxtops4education.com.

Family Referrals
The best way to help Westgate is to refer friends, family, and fellow church members who are interested in Christian education.  We ask that parents who refer new families contact our financial secretary, Kerrie Ottomeyer, BEFORE the new family visits the school.  If the family decides to join Westgate, we will be glad to credit your tuition account or your fundraising account for $300.  We invest our advertising dollars in our parents.  Most parents who enroll report they came because they know someone here.  Together, we’ve built a great Westgate community!

Matching Gift Program
On average, 1 in 10 donors is matching gift eligible. One of the smartest ways to give is through your company’s matching gift program, where a company – or individual – will match donations to charitable organizations. These matches are often dollar for dollar, which doubles and triples your charitable-donation power to support Westgate Christian Academy.
