Principal’s Monday Memo - 3.8.10
Sunday, February 28th, 2010
Dear Friends,
Last Friday night was such a phenomenal time for the Westgate family. With attendees spanning at least three generations - grandparents to grandkids - it was a great mixture of ages, interests, and backgrounds - but a great time was had by all. The proceeds are in progress and I’ll be reporting the final numbers as soon as possible, but we know the end result will be a little over $20,000 for the school. This is much needed and much appreciated. Thank you so much to all the families who contributed in a variety of ways and those who attended. May God guide us and help us make the most of this income to further His kingdom.
To provide feedback so we can improve the Gala even more next year, we ask that you complete the evaluation form found at the following website:

Major events coming up next:
- Dodgeball tournament - next Monday, March 15, at Calvary Church, Mid-Rivers. Grades 3-5 at 5:30; Grades 6-8 at 6:30. Food available. Cost per participant is $5.
- Spring musical - Annie - presented by our kids in grades 5 through 8 - will be March 8th at Holt High School in Wentzville. Doors will open at 6:00 and show starts at 7:00. The address at Holt High is 600 Campus Drive, Wentzville, MO 63385. Tickets are $3 per person or $12 per family.
- Pride Prowl - Our annual 5K race and 1 mile fun run will be May 1 at Quail Ridge Park. This is the same place as last year’s Prowl, but we’re going to alter the route so you don’t go up that BIG hill right off the bat. Registration will begin at 7:30 and the race will begin at 8:30. Cost will be $25 per adult runner and kids will need to solicit sponsors who will support their participation by up to $25. It is our hope that each student will solicit far more than just the $25 entry fee from friends, family, and neighbors.
- Spring Break - Begins April 2 with Good Friday and we return on Monday, April 12. Childcare will be available all but Good Friday.
This week:
- This Friday is a Haiti Day. For the cost of $1 or more, students can wear whatever they want - within the bounds of modesty, as always! All proceeds go to Haiti relief efforts.
Next week:
- Monday, the 15th, is the dodgeball tournament.
- Thursday, the 18th, is reading shirt day.
- Friday, the 19th, is Spiritwear day.

Important Announcements:
- Today we have 37 kids out between the elementary and middle school campuses - which is about 20% of our school population. The Early Childhood Center has had illnesses too, but not to this proportion. If your child is running a low grade temperature, coughing, or you can tell they don’t feel good, please keep them home. Kids who come to school sick only spread the disease. We’re looking at all possible ways to cut the dispersion of germs, but a major factor here is just not allowing children who are ill to attend. Remember, children should be fever free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school.
- One of our Westgate families, last name Drury, is in dire need of our prayers and any resources we could send their way. Mom and Dad have triplets who are two years of age. Dad was diagnosed with brain cancer around the time the children were born and has fought a good fight. However, he has been sent home on hospice care and his days are short. The staff will be taking up a collection for this family and any parents who would also like to contribute would be ever so welcome.
- If you “do” waivers, the last day that waiver orders will impact May’s tuition 2010 is March 25. After that order date, all waivers will then begin building to decrease your May tuition in 2011. Statements for how much you have earned this year will go home the week after spring break. If your family doesn’t “do” waivers, you really need to start. It is a cost free way to help your family and help the school.
May God bless your week!
