Dear Westgate Friends,

Early Dismissal – October 14th

Students at the Middle and Elementary schools will be dismissed from school at 1:15pm on Friday, October 14th. Picture retakes have been rescheduled for Thursday, October 20th. EMT buses will still be available for students. After care at the EC building will be available, but limited. Those students who normally use after care will be given preference, but additional families needing services can call the EC building or stop by to sign up.

WCA Picture Retakes

WCA Picture Retake Day has been moved to Thursday, October 20th. Those students who missed the first picture day should be dressed for pictures on the 20th. Look for retake forms to be made available next week.

Butter Braid and Spirit of the Season forms out today!

Today, we begin two important WCA fundraisers;

Butter Braids – Butter Braid forms go home today. Forms and full payment are due Tuesday, October 25th. Delivery will be on Wednesday, November 16th. Families can apply 40% of sales to their annual fundraising agreement. Students from families who sell 20 butter braids or more will be invited to a pizza party with Mrs. Barratt, Mr. G, Coach T., Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Ottomeyer!

Spirit of the Season – Spirit of the Season is a new fundraiser to WCA this year. The hope is that Spirit of the Season, in combination with butter braids, will give a greater variety to our Fall fundraising efforts. Forms and full payment are due Tuesday, October 25th. Delivery will be Wednesday, November 16th. Families can apply 50% of sales to their annual fundraising agreement. Students will come home today with a catalog that will describe the products available, an order f0rm, and a description of the prizes that can be earned!

Papa Johns Pizza Night

WCA Papa Johns night is Tuesday, October 11th. Every second Tuesday of the month, 20% of your order goes to Westgate. Flyers come home TODAY for next Tuesday, October 11th fundraiser. Students will wear stickers home Tuesday as a reminder. Remember to give your delivery driver or cashier your flyer so Westgate can earn 20% of your purchase.

Do Waiver$ Work? Words from a WCA Parent

Consistency is the key in using Westgate Waiver$ to meet your fund raising goal. Yes, working with Waiver$ makes it easy to purchase on a day to day basis, and I do when needed. As a result I have already met my fundraising goal for the year. Remember, you can use Waiver$ for dining out (including fast-food), remodeling projects, birthday presents, travel, and of course weekly purchases for groceries and gas. Middle school parents, please remember that students who come late or leave early from school should sign in or out at the office. It is very important that we have an accurate record of those students who are in the building.

Dodgeball!!

Back by popular demand; the annual WCA dodge ball tournament will take place at Calvary Church next Monday, October 10th.We will have two separate tournaments: 3rd-5th grade starts at 6:00pm and 6th-8th grade starts at 7:00pm.

Fitness Testing and the Practice Mile

It’s that time again, Presidential fitness testing will take place during the month of October. Students in grades 1-5 will run the practice mile on Wednesday, October 12th. Please make sure that any fitness related medications are on hand or updated in the office.

Parking Lot Resurfacing

The Elementary school parking lot will be resurfaced this weekend and early next week. The parking lot will be closed all day Sunday, October 9th, and Monday afternoon October 10th after 5pm.

The Cold is Coming!

Remember that all of our ECC kiddos will need jackets at school this fall. The extra clothes students have in their cubbies should be switched to warmer clothes appropriate to the season. Also, those families who are able are invited to donate clorox to the ECC classrooms.
