Be True To Your School!
Thursday, August 19th, 2010

If you go far enough back into the albums of the Beach Boys, you would find a song entitled, “Be True To Your School.”  At Westgate Christian Academy, we ask all of our parents to do this by supporting our annual fundraisers.  They are described below and we ask that you put a couple of dates on your calendar right now!

BOX TOPS 4 EDUCATION -

The monies earned with saving and sending in these funny little squares brought in over $2,000 to our school last year.  The money earned with Box Tops goes for playground equipment and supplies at Early Childhood and funds Field Day for elementary and middle school kids.  Go to the www.boxtops4education.com website and you will learn about the products that carry these little squares and often get coupons, discounts, and even extra Box Tops.

Westgate Waivers -

Some schools call this their “Script” program.  This program costs you nothing but earns rewards for the school and you!  Just stop by the elementary office and purchase gift certificates for the various places you shop - gas, groceries, WalMart, Target, etc.  We have many gift certificates you can pick up immediately.  A wide variety of businesses can be ordered (orders turned in by 9:00 a.m. on Thursday mornings) and picked up the following Thursday.  Though you get the full buying power of the certificate, the businesses give a percentage back to the school.  Half of the refund goes to the school and half goes to your Waivers account.  In May, we apply the full amount of your account to your May tuition payment.  It earns money for you and the school, and doesn’t cost a thing!

Restaurant Nights -

Luigi & Raffaeles restaurant, on Salt River Road in O’Fallon gives a percentage of your purchase back to the school any Friday night you dine there between 5:00 and 9:00.  Chic Fil A in Chesterfield will also be giving us a night of the month - still to be announced - when they will do likewise.

Butter Braids -

These tasty pastry treats are sold each year - and most people have repeat business every year.  This year’s sale will start on October 15 and orders and money will be due on November 1.  These are freezer pastries and you just thaw, let them rise, and pop them in the oven.  They will be distributed back to you and your customers before Thanksgiving, in time to make a tasty continental breakfast for holiday visitors.  Our school has earned as much as $9,000 in the past with this fundraiser, and we are hoping to break that record this year.

Green and Gold Gala -

This is our biggest single fundraiser of the year.  It is a dinner/auction and this year it is scheduled for March 4 at Old Hickory Country Club.  There will be great food, music, games, and great merchandise for every type of shopper.  Be sure to put this date on your calendar now and don’t let anything conflict with this very special event.

We do our best to stretch every penny at Westgate and be good stewards.  We try to keep our tuition as low as possible, while still offering an excellent program.  Your support of these annual fundraisers helps us achieve this goal.  Get involved and help us make this a great fundraising year at Westgate!
